About

My name is Suanne Rieker and I LOVE WHAT I DO! I went from being overweight, smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day and NEVER working out, (certainly a FITNESS FLUNKY) to becoming “FIT” and believe you me….it was not easy. I was the “FAT GIRL” in the gym, ignored and NO ONE helped me out or helped me learn how to use the equipment or how to “train” my body…GRRRRR!  I was INVISABLE! One day I promised myself that I would TRAIN ALLL THE WOMEN in the gym teaching proper technique for RESULTS.

MY Journey…It became clear to me that Health and Fitness would be my destiny.  Not just to “get fit” but to“TEACH FIT.”

In 1975 after I had my daughter I could hardly walk. Spinal Spondylolisthesis was my diagnosis.  In 1980, after many failed attempts at exercise, I was able to establish my own fitness program by lifting weights. With focusing on my posture and stabilizing my spine, I could train each muscle group safely. Unfortunately, my L-5 vertebrae would still slip forward during any attempt at cardio, putting me flat on my back. In 1982 I had a spinal fusion using bone graphed off my left hip (L-5 to S-1) and after eight weeks flat and three months in a brace I began a walking program. I read books on training and nutrition, lost 60 pounds and with my new “stablespine,” got certified to teach aerobics.

Unfortunatley through the years, I gained and lost that same 60 pounds 3 times until I “got it right” and that is when I started coaching clients with their nutrition.. Pictures say a thousand words so I encourage everyone to take your Before , During and AFTER pictures and SEE your progress vs using the scale. I will teach/coach you How to LIVE and EAT and never look back, only LOOK back over at your BEFORE Pictures and LIVE in the AFTER.

In 2011 I had a 4 level Foraminatomy in my Cervical Spine. My left arm still still gives out when I do push-ups but I’m thankful and grateful I can once again use it.  My thumb and 2 fingers are numb but I’m thankful and grateful they work.

I started lifting weights at 25 years old. I started running at 38…because I can.  I have been a Personal Trainer for 30+ years.  I’m a former YMCA Physical Director and since 1998, I’ve been the owner of a personal training studio. In 2013 I added a TRX Suspension Training Studio with classes.  SKYPE CONSULTS are off the hook TRX teaching clients proper technique and training them around the country.

All through the years, I’ve trained HS and College athletes and adults but now focus all my energy into training women in my private facility by appointment one on one.

FITNESS CHANGED MY LIFE! I found a career and met my husband in a gym. I teach and preach to EVERYONE who will listen so they, too, can enjoy living a healthy lifestyle.

yep, If I can do it, ANYONE CAN!  BECOMING FIT can be FUN too… NEVER let working out become a PUNISHMENT or a JOB you hate to go to.

I hope you enjoy my BLAH BLAH BLAH BLOG… please comment or send me an email at fitgirl@riekefit.com

  1. I just wanted to add that I went from being overweight, smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day and NEVER working out, (certainly a FITNESS FLUNKY) to becoming “FIT” and believe you me….it was not easy.

I was the “FAT GIRL” in the gym where NO ONE helped me learn what to do with the equipment or how to “train” my body…GRRRRR! SO I promised myself that one day, I would TRAIN ALLL THE WOMEN in the gym and show them proper technique and TEACH them to train themselves. I became a PERSONAL TRAINER and have loved training clients for almost 30 years now.

yep, If I can do it, ANYONE CAN I always say. BECOMING FIT can be done with FUN.

I started this blog to share my experiences so hang on, some blogs may be serious, some blogs may be fun and some blogs may have a lot of “bitching” go’in on

    THANKS for being here
